3D Human Action Recognition Using Spatio-temporal Motion Templates
نویسندگان
چکیده
Our goal is automatic recognition of basic human actions, such as stand, sit and wave hands, to aid in natural communication between a human and a computer. Human actions are inferred from human body joint motions, but such data has high dimensionality and large spatial and temporal variations may occur in executing the same action. We present a learning-based approach for the representation and recognition of 3D human action. Each action is represented by a template consisting of a set of channels with weights. Each channel corresponds to the evolution of one 3D joint coordinate and its weight is learned according to the Neyman-Pearson criterion. We use the learned templates to recognize actions based on χ error measurement. Results of recognizing 22 actions on a large set of motion capture sequences as well as several annotated and automatically tracked sequences show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Spatio-temporal Human poSe Detection
This thesis proposes a Chamfer-based method for human body pose detection that combines silhouette matching, motion information, and statistical relevance estimates in an original way. We demonstrate that our method can not only detect people but also recover their full 3D pose when they are seen from different viewpoints and at different scales, when the background is cluttered and background ...
متن کاملSpace-Time Pose Representation for 3D Human Action Recognition
3D human action recognition is an important current challenge at the heart of many research areas lying to the modeling of the spatio-temporal information. In this paper, we propose representing human actions using spatio-temporal motion trajectories. In the proposed approach, each trajectory consists of one motion channel corresponding to the evolution of the 3D position of all joint coordinat...
متن کاملStudy of Human Action Recognition Based on Improved Spatio-temporal Features
Most of the existed action recognition methods mainly utilize spatio-temporal descriptors of single interest point ignoring their potential integral information, such as spatial distribution information. By combining local spatio-temporal feature and global positional distribution information (PDI) of interest points,a novel motion descriptor is proposed in this paper. The proposed method detec...
متن کاملHuman Action Recognition Based on 3D Edge Oriented Gradient Histogram of Slide Blocks
In this paper, a new feature called 3D edge oriented gradient histogram of slide blocks is proposed for human action recognition, based on the idea that the slide area of human body edge can be seen as a spatio-temporal silhouette surface when human performing a certain action in video. This feature is processed by defining dense 3D spatio-temporal slide blocks on the spatio-temporal silhouette...
متن کاملScale-independent Spatio-temporal Statistical Shape Representations for 3D Human Action Recognition
Since depth measuring devices for real-world scenarios became available in the recent past, the use of 3d data now comes more in focus of human action recognition. We propose a scheme for representing human actions in 3d, which is designed to be invariant with respect to the actor’s scale, rotation, and translation. Our approach employs Principal Component Analysis (PCA) as an exemplary techniq...
